Taylor Ball (The Drama)

With Love From Me To You! is a beautiful collection of some of Melanie’s favorite pieces of mail art, both sent and received. It is by gazing at the pages of interesting images, and reading the small blocks of typewriter-text stories that accompany them that one is engaged in the excitement of mail art, inevitably wishing to have received or sent any of the packages which these images adorned. With Love From Me To You! Is the perfect zine for a relatively short and simple introduction to and sampling of mail art, all the while remaining exciting enough to provoke you to participate.

Andree Lachapelle (Broken Pencil)

"With Love, From Me to You!" is a precious little zine, a collection of letters and postcards, envelopes and postal stamps and all things original and creative, and mail-related. It is colourful and vibrant and charming and loving and worth picking up and enjoying time and time again-every page holds so much detail as to occupy one's mind for a lifetime! Do not be selfish, however-share this zine with your friends. It's easy: take it, seal it in a Ziplock bag, add a name, an address, stamp it-or not-and send Melanie Coles' art to another part of the planet. It would be wrong to keep it to yourself.

This is one of the more interesting and exciting zines I've come across in the past few months. Melanie has compiled a beautiful collection of mail art and printed this zine in full color. Reading it is almost as exciting as getting beautiful packages or envelopes in the mail. In the short introduction, she writes, "Each envelope I have chosen comes with a story of why I sent it, how I received it, or the postal adventures in between. This zine is a year by year documentation..."

Jackie Dives (The Petri Dish)

"The work of Melanie Coles is lovely and smart. It brings back the past and inspires the child in you to get out the glue stick and make a fantasy world from clippings. The work's colours, textures and playfulness are both bold and delicate. It is the sophistication of a Shakespearean play performed by an enthusiastic, cheerful class of grade 5 children."

Heidi Nagtegaal (Practicing Artist)

Melanie is an interesting girl, matchstick boxes housing miniature dioramas of the end of the world, animals and 50s kitsch. In a world based on excess, a girl doesn’t have to look far to find enough fodder to fuel an art practice, especially if that girl grew up on zines, DIY aesthetic and thrift store mania.
... Today that fancy lies in the heart and eyes of Melanie Coles, redesigning castaways into thoughtful and delicate objects, scenes and moments in time. Her ready made collages delve deep into the North American subconscious of value, commodity and predetermined future
